The Directors
Candace Baranowski -
Sundby
was born in Rochester, NY. She began her formal education at
the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester receiving a
Bachelors degree in Music Education. As a double major she was
awarded permanent certification to teach K-12 vocal and instrumental
music. A Master's Degree was awarded in Performance and
Literature as a Voice major. Candace also received two
Performer's Certificates, Voice and Opera, the highest level of
achievement at the Eastman School of Music.
Upon graduation Candace was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to
study Opera in Germany where won prizes at the international
Voice Competition in Munich and Paris. These prizes resulted in
contracts with the Saarbruecken, Germany Opera House and orchestras
in France, Germany and Switzerland. In Saarbruecken Candace was the
leading Lyric Soprano, performing six to eight major roles per year.
Noted teachers and coaches were John Maloy, Julius Huehn, Hans
Hotter, Edwin McArthur, Benton Hess, Gustav Meier, Sylvia Getzsty
and Cynthia Auerbach.
Candace Sundby is a member of NATS, FSMTA, and ABWA. She teaches voice at Edison
State College and is the
Edison State College Choral Director. Candace also teaches 40+ other
students at her Cayuga Music Studio in Lehigh Acres and is the
musical director of the Lehigh Singers. She is president of
District VII FMTA, and Vice Pres of the South West Florida Music
Teachers Association.
In her spare time Candace enjoys golf and travel with her husband,
tenor David A. Sundby and her son, Julian a gifted
jazz pianist, composer.
Julian Sundby
has been studying music since the age of three. He
was a member of The Christ Church Cathedral Men and Boy's Choir,
Griffy Rhodes, Big Saturday, Lawrence Central High School Marching
Band and Wind Ensemble and The Indianapolis Children's Choir. He
directed the Geist Christian Church Children's Choir in
Indianapolis, IN. for four years. He plays and teaches piano, voice,
woodwinds and jazz and has recorded six albums. He attended Indiana
University and Cornell University for jazz, business and music and
has a degree from Edison State College. Currently, Julian is the
director of Buckingham Presbyterian Church's Choir, the founder and
co-director of The Lehigh Children's Choir and teaches privately for
Cayuga Music Studios.
